Email is my basic form of communication. The trouble starts when I am out of station. I usually travel to those places where they don’t even have cyber cafes. Only way to contact me is on my mobile.
When I setup my auto – holiday responder it becomes very difficult what to disclose and what not. My default auto responder will may contain”Who can be contacted instead of me for official purposes? And his minimal contact details. If it is very important how can they contact me?”
But auto responder shares the information with entire world. I don’t want to share mine or colleague’s details with who ever mails me. So instead of setting auto responder; I use rules where I can share different level of details with different people.

Follow the steps below to setup responder rules

  1. Goto -> tools -> Rules and Alerts
  2. Choose new Rules
  3. Start from a blank rule
  4. Check messages when they arrive

Then choose one of the following depending on whom do you want to setup. You can setup more than one out of office responder by having more rules.

Reply to email distribution list (like your team)

Reply to your contact list (like friends, colleagues etc)
Reply to specific domain email ids (like your company ids or your client ids)

Each of the above rule takes email template. You can have different template for each contact type. You can enable/disable the rules in the rules wizard when required. Hence you don’t have to follow this process everytime. You just need to enable the rule when you are out.Disable them once you are back.

My Next Firefox video : PLAY SAFE

Posted by Thejesh GN On April - 30 - 2007

I got inspired by this print ad (yeah online print ad). Then wrote the script for video. I have made Firefox ad videos before. But I think this would be the best. Check the script below

PLAY SAFE
The camera runs behind the characters. And it follows them into a room with the tags “Girls only zone”. The camera shows most of the things in the room. Her table (with foto frame) , her bed, her cupboard etc. The characters ‘boy’ and ‘girl’ enter the room in front of the camera running . Only the legs are shown . Nothing above waist is shown.

Girl: I have never done this before and I am afraid.
Boy: Don’t worry, its secure. You willenjoy.
Girl: Are you sure its safe?
Boy:Yes its safe and fun.
Girl: I am not convinced.
Boy:believe me, its safe, its fast and its fun.

Boy’s hand on girl’s hand confirming.
Boy: Lets do it.

In an exiting voice
Girl: OK , Lets do it
Boy takes his hands to his back pocket. And removes the firefox cd.

Play safe. Use firefox.

If you are an actor/actress or interested in making this video. Let me know we can collabrate on this.

How to recover Shift + Deleted mails in outlook

Posted by Thejesh GN On April - 27 - 2007

Sandeep has sent us the steps to recover the shift+delete (almost permanently deleted) mails in outlook. You need to edit registry for it. It is advised to save a copy of registry before you start editing it.

  1. Start –> Run
  2. Run the command regedit.exe.
  3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Options
  4. Add a new string ‘DumpsterAlwaysON’ of type REG_DWORD with the value 1 in Hex
  5. Close the registry editor.
  6. Restart Outlook.
  7. Go to Tools –> Recover Deleted Items.
