We all use some kind of source control to maintain the code. But we developers still use mail/IM to share some changes/snippets with each other. Where you usually send the changed file, original file to your friend. There could also be a case where you have read only access to source control. It usually happens when you are working FOSS project and you are supposed prove yourself before you get check in access.
Most of us have best in class GUI based products comparing and merging these files. I, like others, send both the files. I send the old file to make sure that my friend knows on which version I have worked on.
But when I know my friend works on Linux or CygWin, or at least uses GNU Utils. Then I go for diff and patch. The simplicity and usefulness of diff n patch beats any other tool.

Tweet4Blood is covered on SkyNews UK today. Thanks to @RuthBarnett for such a wonderful coverage. I hope this coverage will make more and more people to follow @tweet4blood and donate blood.

Friends operation I was talking about in the article is Sandeep MKs article. I got inspired that day and I coded the application. Few days later VSR (I owe you lots of coffees man) redesigned the site and made that awesome logo.

Around 400 hundred Indian soldiers of Maratha Light Infantry led the march yesterday in Paris. I was reading the history of them on wikipedia and then the words “bol Shri Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj ki Jai’ caught my interest. Its the war cry of MLI. Here is the list of other war cries from India.

Well, what should I say? Farewell function was long and very senti. It looked like whole of @infy had gathered to catch a glimpse of Nandan. I am cursing myself for not carrying a camera on such a big occasion. Here are some pics from my mobile.

Nandan has been with Infy for almost thirty years. It is not easy for Nandan or Infy, not to miss each other. He is a great executor and brand ambassador. 1. Machine with outlook running…
2. You are solely responsible for what you are doing…
We will use outlook rules to control the (*your own*) machine from any where in the world as long as you have access to email.
Create a .bat file on your file system with

@echo off
rundll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStation
cls

save it as act-outlook.bat
1. Go to Tools -> Rules and alerts
2. Click on *new* rule
3. Start from blank rule and check message when they arrive
4. Click next
5. Check when specific words in the subject
6. Add your *super dooper password* as that subject word
7. Click next
8. Check start an application ( and use act-outlook)
