Reading blogs ( feeds ) inside outlook

Posted by Thejesh GN On July - 7 - 2009

Recently I have seen number of users reading my feed on outlook. Its been increasing month by month. So I thought there could be many more users who will be interested in reading feeds in outlook. The recent version of outlook, i.e outlook 2007 has feed reader built into it. Using which you can read the posts just like mails.
Reading feeds or posts inside outlook
This is useful as most of us, corporate users have outlook installed by default. You don’t have to fight with your IS/ITS department for a new software or you don’t have to keep your browser always open.
Your browser should recognize outlook 2007 as a feed reader when you access a feed. You can easily subscribe from there. Read the rest of this entry »

Enabling multiple timezones in outlook

Posted by Thejesh GN On May - 15 - 2007

Working across time zones is pretty confusing when your scheduling meetings. You may want to check both the clocks to see if it is OK. If both the time lines are displayed on your outlook calendar then it is little easy to do it. Outlook by default displays only one timezone. To enable multiple timezones
Go to Tools – Options

Select Calendar Options and click on time zone button

Check the check box Show Additional timezone. Give a new Label and select the time zone. Here my secondary timezone is Chicago. And then click OK.

Now your outlook calendar shows both the timezones

CircleUP: Ask team for suggestion and get collated answer

Posted by Thejesh GN On May - 7 - 2007

Every time you ask a question to your team, collating their answers is a big problem. The usual way to collect the suggestion from a team is to share the excel sheet on LAN and ask them to enter their choice. But this will not work when the team is across the internet. Or if your teams are separated by firewall. Now we have an online application to do the boring collating work for you. Its called CircleUP

What is CircleUp?
It’s a simple, FREE and easy way to ask questions of any community you belong to and get back a single organized result to use and share instead of a blizzard of emails and instant messages.
With CircleUp you can avoid:
  • Searching through your inbox to find replies from everyone who responded
  • Tracking who replied and who didn’t
  • Getting replies to your question sent in different formats
  • Having to cut and paste answers into a Word document or Excel spreadsheet to aggregate them
  • Getting replies that don’t actually answer your question
  • Annoying “reply to all” messages that disrupt the group and clutter your inbox
  • Fumbling through your mailbox archives to find old information
  • Not being able to share answers with the group or save them for the future

Circleup works with your outlook client or IM or any email provider. None other than you (who is asking the question) needs an account registered at CircleUP. And the answers can be seen only by you.
