Extract Data from HTML/XML/JSON using Xidel

As you would know, I scrape a lot of web pages as a Data Archivist at DataMeet. I usually use BS4 for this, and it’s beautiful, simple, and works. But often don’t want to write a python script to do that, and I need a simple tool to get data out of HTML.

Create a Vachana GNOME Extension Using Argos

I like to read a stanza of Vachana every day, and I generally visit Vachana Sanchaya to do that. They have a widget ಇಂದಿನ ವಚನ aka Today’s Vachana. Which picks a random(?) Vachana and shows it to you on their home page. But then its not fun to visit the site everyday. So I wrote a script so it appears on my Desktop.

NMG+GSUS – 2021 – Results

I am sorry for being late. 2021 has not been an easy year, personally. With so many things going around me, I couldn’t give mind-space or time to work on it. Since this is close to my heart, I couldn’t decide without spending time on it. That said, we have the results now.

We have made updates to DataMeet’s COVID19 dataset to include new columns. Also, we have added SQLite DB. In case you like SQLing.

What a crazy year this has been. I don’t know how to keep track of time. I am 41 today, and it seems like a year passed in second. Anyway, I am blessed that my life and life of people around me have been okay. We survived.
