RIP: Aaron Swartz
I got to know more about Aaron while using web.py. I think he built it during his stint at Reddit. In fact I am such a big fan of web.py that I use it everywhere including at myswar. I used to follow him on his blog and then his work at DemandProgress. He was one whom I call a perfect social hacktivist, kind of role model for me at 26.
I was really proud of what he did to US legal documents and then to the academic papers. I was kind of sad when MIT didn't come out in support of him. I was so let down by MIT. Specially when JSTOR came out clean. But then his actions inspired many to go open, which is the kind of effect his work always had on others including myself. I hope his work will continue to inspire others.
Goodbye, Aaron.
