Valencia, Spain

I was in Valencia early this month for Localization Lab Sprint. It was part of much bigger event called Internet Freedom Festival. I thoroughly enjoyed the sprint and festival. Along with that I got enough time to enjoy the city itself.

I liked Valencia more than Madrid and Barcelona. I think these days I love smaller towns more than big cities. You could probably see most of the Valencia by walk. We walked most of the city center. I really loved the market. I took lots of picture in the market, you can see some of them in the gallery below. After a long time I enjoyed food and wine. My favorite items from tapas were Fried Potatoes in Spicy Tomato Sauce (Patatas Bravas) and Pimientos de Padrón (fried padron peppers). I probably had them every evening.

Mercado Central (Central Market) is probably one of the oldest markets in Europe. The market closes by 3pm. So we got a couple of hours to explore. We walked around the beautiful market. Bought food and wine.

There are churches around the old market and lot of places to eat. You can spend as much time as you want exploring that area.

IFF venue was very close to beach. So we went to beach on the last day. Walked around. It was warm, bright, sunny day. You could see a lot of people enjoying the sun and beach in the middle of the day :)

You could probably spend a week in Valencia. It could work as a nice break from work doing.
