Recently I completed 1000 edits on OpenStreetMap. It’s a big deal for me :) It happened because I started making small but useful contributions from my phone. I usually map on the phone and then sometimes update them on the desktop, if required. On the phone, I use the following apps, which makes it super easy to edit.
I have been reading quite a few books again. When I read EBooks, I prefer DRM free books and a FOSS reader. I use the following apps to read EBooks on my phone. I hope they will be useful to you too.
The last year 2020, was terrible in terms of reading. I heard a lot of podcasts but didn’t read much. This year’s goal is to read 25 Kannada books minimum; any books I read in English are special. You can track them under the tag #25KA2021 on my social blog. In Jan and Feb, I read five, which is a decent start.
I do quite a bit of work on the go; most of it happens on the phone. It’s not easy to software development on the phone. That is mostly due to the small screen size and lack of a hardware keyboard. Nevertheless, I have made numerous small changes to code on the phone, deployed them. The other big use case is browsing the code on the go, doing reviews and accepting merge requests, etc. I use the following apps for the same.
People who know me already know this in some form or other. But this makes it official. The religion I was born into never made sense. Actually, as of now, none of them make any sense to me. So it’s NULL now.
When I am traveling, I avoid connecting to public wifi or guest wifi. So I am left with mobile Internet. I have 4G connections from all three providers (Airtel 4G, BSNL 4G, and Reliance Jio 4G). Even then, I don’t get enough bandwidth to download something large enough like the latest Ubuntu ISO during the day. The only option is download managers. So these are my choice.
