AWA 4: Siem Reap City
Since the last few days have been busy, we thought we would take today easy and slow. We started late and mostly used local transport ( Auto/tuk-tuk) to get around.
We started with a visit to the local market called Phsar Leu Thom Thmey. It's probably one of the biggest markets I have seen. We were there just to see the market and the things sold there.
From there, we took an auto to Angkor National Museum. I like museums, and fortunately, my co-travelers also like them. So we spent a lot of time there. They allow mobile phone photography without flash. We also did a bit of shopping in the Museum store. Museum and gallery stores are my favorite places to buy gifts.
We had our lunch at Lotus Dosa Indian Restaurant. They have good Indian food. We liked our lunch there; then we walked to Artisans Angkor. It's a workshop and a shop for Khmer culture-based Cambodian Art. We did a bit of shopping there.
Wat Preah Prom Rath was our last visit for the day. It's in the middle of the city, and it is beautiful. It has a fascinating background story about a Buddhist monk, Preah Ang Chong Han Hoy. Also there is a sleeping Buddha behind this sitting Buddha. Don't miss him.
