Weekly Notes 30/2024

I completed my tax returns this week. Even the simplified process is not simple enough, especially if you have income from various sources. I also wonder why Dhoni or Akshay are the highest taxpayers in India and not the richest, like Ambani or other billionaires. We need to change the definition of 'rich people.'

Weekend
  • 📺 The weekend was slow, mostly spent sleeping or playing with Uma. I also watched a movie called The Old Man & the Gun. I liked it. During the week, I watched the Civil War. I think it's an interesting movie. It can happen to any democracy in the near future.
  • 💻 There are some exciting things we are working on. It will go live in four weeks or so. I am pretty kicked about it.
  • 🌐 When I use emojis in posts, I want them to be Unicode characters, not images, especially in a RSS feed. You have to add a remove_filter to get that done in WordPress 😞 Now, emojis on this blog are image-free :) As you would have guessed, I like good old ASCII emoticons too, \o/.
  • 🐶 One of my neighbors has a bungalow; better than that, he has a dozen indie dogs—all kinds of black, brown, white, three-legged, and two-legged. In the evening, they come out of the bungalow and walk around. Hopefully, someday, we can have that many dogs.
  • 🐶 Anju's book The Dog We Stole, now available only in digital form on Kindle, is ready for print. It's been in the works for several months. All the reviews are done. We have frozen the final version. We are going to send for a test print next week. I am pretty kicked about it.
  • Twenty years ago this week. I was in Vegas. I don't remember much, except it was a fun trip, and I enjoyed the drive around the city. I wish I had written a note. The pictures were taken with a Sony camera, which Appa still uses. Ten years back, I ran a SkyscrapperDash. Time flies so fast. I want to restart running; it's one of my goals for this year.
