Weekly Notes 37/2024

It was a busy week, and Friday was a busy and long day. But we took a break in the evening and went to the beach. I was so tired by the time we came back that I forgot to publish this post which was in draft. This is the second time I have delayed.

  • Saturday and Sunday were spent at home with family.
  • I have added a new wiki page, Readlists, which lists all the reading lists that I have created until now. I will keep that updated.
  • Appa has learned to make video calls to talk to Uma. It is pretty difficult for him to operate it and make video calls. There are many barriers like "touch buttons," language, etc. 1 But his need to talk to Uma makes him cross those barriers daily. He has a smartphone just for that. He uses that phone only for camera/photos and video calls. He has an Easyfone for regular usage, which he is very comfortable with.
  • IBV is back with everything fixed. That was faster than I thought. Usually, it takes quite a bit of time when the car lands in a workshop.
  • I wrote a simple one-page web app to show IMD Warnings for any location. I blogged in detail about it. I have a couple of ideas to make it more useful. I will implement them in smaller increments as and when I get time.
  • Uma is very, very active now. She wants to go out for a walk all the time, speak to everyone on the road, and climb anything on her way. So, basically, my mornings and evenings are fully booked.
  • Work has been hectic but also has been very productive. I am very happy with the progress we have made. I am also excited about my team; they are nice people. It's easy to work with nice people, no matter how hectic it is.

  1. I have made fonts bigger, set the language as Kannada, enabled high contrast, and set it up to show a simplified setting, yet it still lacks.
