Weekly Notes 45/2024

Most of us think democracy is fair. I think it is only as fair as people around us are. It won’t remain fair if we don’t work hard to keep it that way. The most horrible leaders are chosen by us (the people), from orange men in India and the US to Hitler in 1930s Germany.

I believe 2020 was, in fact, 1920; we have time traveled for the worse. The only hope is things improved after the 1940s. So if we work hard and continue our struggle, we will see good days again. Now isn’t the time to lose hope; it’s time for the people of the world’s two largest democracies, India and the USA, to stand against fascism on both sides. And we will succeed. In the meantime, hugs to all my American 🇺🇸 friends.

Echo (the dog) at Home.
Echo at Home
  • 🎆 It was another week of meeting more friends during Deepavali. Festivals and birthdays are a good reason to meet friends.
  • 💊 Echo has almost recovered this week. Uma also had a bout of fever. She has recovered now. It’s tough when kids are sick, though both Echo and Uma are darlings and very easy to manage.
  • 🤼 I had an encounter in the park, and it was not so nice.
  • 😎 I got a new pair of eyeglasses and this time I spent money. For the last few years, I have been buying cheap glasses. They either break or get scratched easily. This time, I spent a bit of money and bought a good pair of standard eyeglasses and a pair of powered sunglasses. I am pleased about them. Let’s see how long they will come. I hope for at least five years, especially because my power doesn’t change often. It has not changed in the last four years.
  • 📸 I own a Nikon D5300, which I have not used much. I have started using it again, with a standard 35mm lens. I am currently practicing various things. This week’s image was taken using that camera.
  • 🏫 We did another round of school visits this week. We are going Montessori way for Uma. Now, we must decide on the exact school and start the actual admission process.
  • 🎂 Thursday was Anju’s birthday, so we went to Harima for dinner. Both of us thought Azukii was better than Harima.
  • 📽 I am in Mumbai today and tomorrow for work. My flight to Mumbai (Vistara) was delayed by three hours. We were inside the aircraft for all those three hours. I watched KILL. It’s a simple action movie that falls in the same genre as  The Raid. If you are averse to onscreen violence, don’t watch it; otherwise, it’s not bad. We also watched The Diplomat S2. It's short but nice.
