Weekly Notes 20/2025

It’s been a good week. The pain did flare up midweek, but regular exercise has helped bring it down. I can correlate the reduction to neck exercises. I’m starting physiotherapy at Stairs Physiotherapy again. Interestingly, I’ve received a few messages and emails about this. It turns out that I’m not alone; others in...

Linked List: FOSS Apps for Sharing Files between Devices

It’s a common requirement to share the files between multiple devices we own, sometimes even with strangers. Even though it’s a widespread requirement, there is no universal standard. iOS folks use AirDrop and Android folks use QuickShare, etc. They work only within their walled gardens, even though the data transfer happens in a...

Weekly Notes 19/2025

NMG/2025 results are out. It took me a while to go through the applications this time. But finally I sat down and closed. There are some emails and follow-ups left; otherwise, it’s done. Gangadhar(25K), Shweta/Ashwini(50K), Divya(50K), Nemo(50K), Kamala Manoharan (100K), Y(30K), S(10K), and T(10K) pitching in to make the total amount 4.25L. This is also the first year a former grantee has become a grantor (Not in their name), making it truly special.

Weekly Notes 18/2025

We follow a zero-screen policy for Uma. That means we don’t watch anything when she’s awake. It’s reduced my phone and TV time, which is good. Thankfully, she’s not too interested in work computers. But keeping toddlers away from phones is hard. Everyone has one, and you can’t control others. The moment she...

ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 (AMD)

I wanted a replacement for the computer that broke last year (WN 29/2024). LC230 has been fulfilling that place, but it’s not made for that. Finally, I did some research and got a custom-built ThinkPad from Lenovo. For a long time, I considered the budget before buying a laptop (except for my first laptop – Sony Vaio), which was always below ₹75K. But this time I wanted to gift myself a high-end one, and after all, I was buying a workhorse after seven years.
