I watched so many (probably hundreds?) movies with my parents as a child and a teenager. We mostly saw them in theaters; in fact, there was no other option. The first set I remember is Premaloka and Ranadheera, directed by Ravichandran. Both were remakes, but it didn’t matter. Premaloka was released in 1987...
There were 100+ high-quality applications this year, making going through and selecting hard and time-consuming. I am happy about them. Thanks to friends for pitching. Gangadhar(25K), Shweta/Ashwini(50K), Divya(50K), Nemo(50K), Kamala Manoharan (100K), Y(30K), S(10K), and T(10K) pitching in to make the total amount 4.25L. This is also the first year a former grantee has become a grantor (Not in their name), making it truly special.
Welcome to the eighth edition of the NMG grant. It seems like it started yesterday, and it’s already been eight years. There are a few changes to NMG this year onward. It’s not a big deal, but I wanted to note them here for future reference. TLDR: NMG Core will be ₹ 1 lakh + friends as usual, and NMG Edu will be a separate ₹ 1 lakh.
Finally, I am on time this year, and the results are here. There were 350+ applications this year. I spent a lot of time in the last two weeks reading and filtering them. There were many eligible and exciting applications, but I am limited by our total funds. Thanks to friends for pitching in. This year’s total grant amount is 2,90,000. Kids scholarship of 1 Lakh is outside the initial budget that I had allocated for NMG. So its more like the base NMG is now 2 Lakhs, rest of it came from friends of NMG.
