If you are a web developer, or if your work involves anything involving the Internet, you can’t escape DNS. DNS is Internet’s addressing system. When you change domain settings or when you want to debug connections. You often end up querying DNS. Here are my go-to tools that I use to query DNS.
I have written mock features in Karate for integration testing. Recently I wanted to run them centrally somewhere so all my testing infra can use the same set of Mocks. I wanted an easy way to launch it and maintenance-free. So I tried it with CloudRun, which can run any stateless web service. One needs to provide a container to it. That’s all.
If you are a web developer or an API developer, you would have used JSON daily unless you are deeply buried in the XML world. There are some tools that I use to work with them daily. These tools are useful if you are a developer or a tester or just a curious mind who likes to explore the web or config files.
Recently I completed 1000 edits on OpenStreetMap. It’s a big deal for me :) It happened because I started making small but useful contributions from my phone. I usually map on the phone and then sometimes update them on the desktop, if required. On the phone, I use the following apps, which makes it super easy to edit.
I do quite a bit of work on the go; most of it happens on the phone. It’s not easy to software development on the phone. That is mostly due to the small screen size and lack of a hardware keyboard. Nevertheless, I have made numerous small changes to code on the phone, deployed them. The other big use case is browsing the code on the go, doing reviews and accepting merge requests, etc. I use the following apps for the same.
