Weekly Notes 32/2024

I was supposed to meet friends for lunch during the weekend, but I got the day wrong. So they were all at the restaurant waiting for me, and I was home. They sent me WhatsApp messages promptly, and I ignored them as I checked messages only once every 3 or 4 hours.

My WhatsApp usage also has gone down considerably. Currently, YouTube takes up the most time on phone. I will have to work on reducing it.

Cooking after a long time - Ghee Rice for Uma
  • 🏠 I spent the weekend at Home with Uma.
  • 🎥 I watched Anti Social Network. It's a must watch if you want to know where today's social networks get their virality or have heard about Anonymous and want to know more about them. Also QAnon :(
  • 💻 What a hectic week this was. But things are coming together, which is good. I am also very proud of my team.
  • 👨‍🍼 Uma eats almost everything except for eggs. For some reason, she didn't like eggs in any format until this week. We just realized she loves eggs scrambled when they have cheese and milk, which makes them fluffy.
  • I have not cooked in a long time. I made some Ghee Rice for lunch today. She loved it. Next time, I want to try a simple Pepper/Salt/Ghee Rice that Amma used to make when we were kids. It's different from standard Ghee Rice; It doesn't have fried onions, cashews, raisins, etc. It's very simple yet tasty.
  • 🇮🇳 It was sad to see Vinesh Phogat disqualified from the Paris Olympics, but she is still a hero. Despite her injuries and apathy of the state over the past few years, her comeback showed grit and determination. She has shown what is possible and has paved the way. She is an inspiration to me. I think what people do outside of their professional lives equally inspires me. Vinesh is one such human being. This probably why I have no favorite cricketers anymore.
  • 🗺 Today is the 20th anniversary of OpenStreetMap. I am a contributor and user of OSM. We have come a long way, but there is a lot to do, especially in India. Bangalore community is very active; please participate in mapping parties to learn mapping. Also, if you are an active contributor, use the active contributor membership program and become a Foundation member. I think it's essential that individual contributors are represented.
