Weekly Notes 15/2025
We went to Cubbon Park on Saturday with Echo. Now that we have three beings who need attention at home, Echo gets the least. So we made plans to go for a walk only with him like last year – WN 13/2024. He had lots of fun. We need to do this often.

- Uma met her cousins on Sunday; they are her uncles and aunts if you follow strict rules, but they are so young they want to be called brothers and sisters.
- After three months of waiting, I installed the IKEA Enhet Wall Cabinet this week, as my shoulder and neck were doing okay. I could have gotten help to get it done, but I like doing these small home things. So now we have enough shelf area above the washing machine and dishwasher. If you’re unsure about getting a dishwasher—get one. It uses much less water than washing by hand under an open tap. Eco mode saves even more. Look for an Energy Star model for better energy use.
- Dunzo is gone, and Swiggy Genie isn’t reliable, so I switched to Porter.in. I’m pleasantly surprised. I used them earlier for mini trucks, but now I use them for quick, small couriers. The UI is clean and task-focused. They also offer intercity delivery. I had to install their Android app since there’s no web or PWA version—that’s my only gripe. But many apps are guilty of this. They seem to have a good set of APIs. I have not tried them yet, but I will do it.
- The Internet is complex, and I am fairly good at working with DNS, the upper layers, and even home networks. I have never looked into layers below them. For example, I don’t fully understand how ISPs, LIR, BGPs, etc, work. I just assume they work. In the last few weeks, I have been reading and experimenting there. BTW, I have been running a hardware RIPE atlas probe for over two years.
- I found fellow weekly-noter Divya and Technology activist Emily on the web and added them to my blogring.
- I watched Agnyathavasi (Kannada, 2025) in theaters yesterday. It’s a suspense thriller set up in a remote village in Karnataka. It’s an enjoyable watch by the director of Gultoo (WN 07/2025)
- My daily posts on the wall posters – #30DaysOfWallPoster started on WN 14/2025, are not happening daily :( But I will continue to post until I reach 30 days, even if they are not consecutive days. For the next series, I need to find a theme that I can also do from home :)
Porter is very good for both inter and intra city deliveries. I had ordered one gift for my relatives in Chennai. I didn’t even go to the shop they took my order on WhatsApp and sent me over using Porter. Totally recommended!
