Weekly Notes 16/2025
Adulting is the phase of life where you must do what needs to be done, regardless of your mental or physical state. This week was the week of adulting; even then, I am falling behind a bit. Adulting is hard :)

- Uma’s Nursery celebrated its annual day on Saturday with a dance drama performance at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall. There were 100+ kids ( and some parents) on the stage, and younger toddlers got about a minute or two. It was fun to watch them do whatever they liked to do. Uma seems to be the youngest in the school. We all turned up (grandparents, aunts, nieces, and nephews) for it. After the event, we went to Pulimunchi for dinner. Pulimunchi has good Mangalore-style food. We all were very happy with the food and service.
- I watched Court – State v/s Nobody (2025, Telugu) on Prime. It is a well-done courtroom drama revolving around teenagers, the class divide, bias, and a false complaint/lawsuit over family honor. It is very similar to honor killing incidents but sending people to jail by lodging false complaints instead.
- Happy belated Vishu and Puthandu. It’s Malayalam and Tamil New Year festivals. It’s fascinating to see how many different calendars Indians use.
- Subscribed and added fellow weekly-noters Tanvi and Jedda to blogring.
- Have you tried Open Hours at the office? So your teammates can block your time without asking you. I have started it this week. It’s 30-minute four slots every day for unplanned meets. Folks can block 4 hours before the slot, and they have to either give a link or note along with blocking.
- There was some house-related maintenance work on Sunday. It was a busy weekend in general.
- I ordered a new laptop. This one is my most powerful and expensive one. I have been using LC230 as my daily driver for some time(WN 29/2024 now. I started using it full-time after I broke my five-year-old Asus Zenbook, which they couldn’t repair. LC230 is a fabulous travel/alt computer but is low-powered for daily development work. So, I got a Thinkpad series T with AMD. I will write more about it once I use it. I will still carry LC230 while traveling or on my bike rides. I don’t believe there exists another machine as sturdy and capable as LC230. I also need a name for my new computer. Send suggestions.
- The pain is back, not as much as before, thankfully. It could be because of exercise or physical work I did. I am back to taking rest and taking it slow.
- Work has been good, exploring lots of new things. It’s been hectic but good.
- Uma had a fever on and off the whole of this week. But she was so cheerful; it didn’t feel like she had a temperature. She is better now, with no fever.
- NMG/2025 results announcements are delayed. It needs a solid ten-plus hours more in front of the computer. I have not been able to do that in the last two weeks. I think I can do it before the month ends. So the new date is April 30th.
