Weekly Notes 45/2026
It’s been 13 years. Our favorite Taj West End was busy (I tried late), so we stayed at Windsor Manor, which is designed like a Regency manor but was built in 1980. A bungalow and estate called Baqarabad stood on the land before Windsor Manor was built. It belonged to Aga Ali Askar, grandfather of Mirja Ismail, who migrated from Iran to sell horses and stayed in Bangalore. It has a really pretty, big, old rain tree (apparently 100+ years old). The building is pretty and soothing to the eyes. I enjoyed the stay.

- The pain has reduced compared to last week. But I am still taking it slow and resting. I didn’t do any training this week, but I tried to walk every day.
- I used DriveU (hired driver) again. I got the same driver this week too (maybe because I have marked him as my choice). A very positive experience until now.
- The work has been hectic but going well, thanks to the teams. We should reach a decent level by next week, so I will get to write some blog posts about it. I have some travel plans coming up. Hope to meet folks during those work trips.
- Apparently, frontier LLMs are now good at natively reading and writing neural network weights (other related papers, one and two). So one could actually fix another model, which I think is great if you want to customize a small model. A similar effort by TruLM (tip: nutanc) to fix a model’s language proves it can be a good option. A fun list of things you can do with Telnet. Some of them are surprisingly good. I have been trying some of the SLLMs by Udgam Labs. Businesses in India are monopolies, at best duopolies. It’s not great for Indians. I personally feel that’s why the costs of air travel and the internet have gone up. I don’t think courts or consumer protection agencies are helping either.
