Weekly Notes 03/2026
It seems like yesterday, but we are in the 9th edition of NMG. NMG/2026 applications are open now. The last date to apply is March 15th. Please share it with your friends. Please do apply if you think it suits you.
- Happy Sankranthi to all of you. Celebrated Lori with friends and then Sankranthi family. You may also be interested to know that, as of now, we are kind of celebrating it on the wrong day(?) if you follow seasons instead of stars. Indian national calendar fixes that, but it is currently used only in a few official channels. Hopefully one day it will become mainstream.
- I am going to teach an undergraduate course at Azim Pereji University this term, it’s called Exploring Digital Technology (placeholder as of now). It’s an interesting course. I spent the weekend planning and prepping for it. I am at the APU campus today. The first session went well. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will keep you informed of its progress.
- I love Corduroy as a material. For some reason, all cotton relatives are my favorites. I have a couple of Parx Corduroy pants that are at least a decade old. This week I got pants from Cotton World. This is my first Corduroy from Cotton World. I have my eyes on their shirts, let’s see.
- Most of the time, I program to get things done, but sometimes it’s just for fun or to challenge myself. I think they are all valid reasons.
- The last few days, I haven’t been able to do the painting. But I am still at it. I am currently at Day 27. I hope to do one today (Done. Added). Delayed a bit, but I will complete #30DaysOfWatercoloring next week. Also, in good news, I will continue painting beyond 30 days. Maybe twice a week. You will know.
- Thanks to this Tedium post about Lindsay Ellis. I watched a two hour video called The Unforgivable Sin of Ms Rachel. It’s a good watch if you have time. BTW, if you love obscure, weird, and cool internet stuff, then you will for sure like Tedium. If your family or community uses CoMaps, with the recent release, you can serve/download maps from a local server to save bandwidth on both sides. I love web components. It’s a great addition to web development that doesn’t depend on large libraries. There is a curated set of standalone, reusable, framework-agnostic web components, as they should be. All you need to do is select the one you want to use, add the script, and then use it in your HTML. That’s all. I didn’t know about Rivayats in Kannada. But recently I heard singers from Agasanuru singing Revayats in Kannada. If you have time, listen to them live on the 24th at IIWC. I hope one day I get to go to Agasanuru and listen to them in their village.
