Weekly Notes 41/2024
I returned from Valparai on Saturday. It was a fun and memorable ride. I also did a bit of OSM mapping while I was there.
- 💻 Since I was virtually away from work last week, this week was a catchup week at work. As expected, it was a busy week.
- 🎥 I watched Saripodhaa Sanivaaram. I kind of liked it.
- 🥘 We went to Kappa Chakka Kandhari for a pre-birthday meal. Though, we make enough Malayalee dishes at home. It was a way for me to try food from other parts of Kerala, not just central Kerala. We ate from their tasting menu, and we liked it.
- 🌐 Scripting News turned 30 this week, and Dave Winer has inspired me to build on top of existing open protocols and standards. Surprisingly, my blog is only a decade younger than his. When I started, I thought I was already late! The moral of the story: you're never late when you are in it for fun.
- 💭 How do you trust people, and what if they cheat? This is the question that I often get asked in NMG and other contexts. I don't know how to work or communicate with people without trusting them. I have been cheated earlier, though the effects of that have been manageable. Every time that happens, I lose a little bit of hope. But humans are irrational, and this life on earth is absurd. So, it is expected that some will cheat, which is their loss. I am not a blind believer. But the first time I meet you, I trust everything you say you are, and you do. By default, I trust, but eventually, I verify.
