Weekly Notes 43/2024
The weekend was busy but good. We got quite a few house-related work done. We are in the last ten weeks of the year; It seems like it's going to be a more hectic year-end than I had imagined.
- We got our first EV. It's a moped for Appa. He wanted something simple and practical. Amphere's Reo Li Plus fits the bill perfectly.
- Echo is recovering but slowly. It's taking a long time to recover this time. The good thing is that he is still responsive to a variety of commonly available antibiotics.
- Uma's sleeping pattern has changed again. She has only one nap during the day now. She is still sleeping 11 hours at night, which is good.
- I was in Mumbai for a day. I was there only for a few hours. I don't think I can make short trips anymore :) They are very tiring and also have low RoI.
- I booked tickets to Poorna KumbhMela/2025 along with friends. I will be in Varanasi on the 1st and 2nd of Feb/2025 and Prayagraj on the 3rd and 4th of Feb/2025. Let me know if you will be there around that time. This Kumbh will be my second Poorna KumbhMela and third KumbhMela. I was previously there in 2013 and 2019.
- I have received the soft-copy of NoC from Infy. Once I get the hard copy, we will send Yamaha for FC. I hope it gets done by mid-November so I can take it for a ride.
- So many Open Source projects are becoming Non-Free Software, taking more than one freedom away from users. I think it's good that it is happening. I think Open Source for many of these was just a business move; hence, closing them down is also a business move. I am not surprised. At the end of this phase, we will know which FLOSS to use and which to discard. This move also increases the respect for boring but stable and freedom-friendly Debian, PostgreSQL, GIMP etc.
