Small Update to NMG
There are a few changes to NMG this year onward. It's not a big deal, but I wanted to note them here for future reference.
TLDR: NMG Core will be ₹ 1 lakh + friends as usual, and NMG Edu will be a separate ₹ 1 lakh.
- As part of NMG, we have granted a student education fee for the last two (2023, 2024) years. It is roughly lakh a year. From this year, it won't be part of the NMG core grant. It will be a separate item under the same grant. That will open up the money for other type of projects.
- I will continue sponsoring one student's college (UG) fees each year. Ideally, I prefer the student to be a woman and a first-generation college-goer, but it's not mandatory. The maximum amount will be ₹ 1 lakh per year.
- I will also assist them in getting online, possibly with a secondhand or borrowed phone or laptop. I'll help them secure internships and spend time supporting them with applications for scholarships and other opportunities. I've been doing this for a couple of years and am confident I have the patience and energy to continue supporting at least one student.
- I always dreamed of being financially stable enough to sponsor an unrelated person's education. I believe I've reached that point now. I can continue doing this as long as I work, and I plan to work for as long as I can.
- For now, I am not taking any applications for NMG Edu. I think I have enough references from friends around me.
