Weekly Notes 30/2025
This week was another good but hectic week. I went to school almost every day with Uma, I completed most of my planned tasks, and didn’t miss physiotherapy. So not bad.

For the last couple of days, it has been cloudy and drizzled a bit; otherwise, the monsoon has vanished. Uma loves playing with water.
- July is also deep-clean the home month. The month is almost over, but we still have parts that are untouched. Hopefully, we will get it done over the weekend.
- On Wednesday, I was not feeling well. I was exhausted and under the weather. I took most of the day off and spent it mostly sleeping.
- I will be in Mumbai between Aug 4th and Aug 7th. If you are around, let me know and we can grab coffee one of these days.
- Updated the PHP version on the site to the latest recommended version. It was smooth, and no issues have been found until now. Smooth software upgrades still feel like magic to me. We have a new Debian (codename: trixie) coming up soon. I have a bunch of virtual machines, let’s see how that goes.
- I built something I had wanted for a long time – it’s called Jotheyali, a JSPF player. More details are in a blog. I am happy with how it turned out. I will add some more features in the coming week, but it’s already useful.
- I am also happy that some of these home-cooked, experimental, simple apps @ labs.thejeshgn.com are generally useful to people other than myself. It’s a Flask App, but many are just HTML pages, deployed on fly.io.
- Many better and more useful apps, developed by various individuals, are available @ apps.thejeshgn.com, which I have collected and hosted using GitHub static pages. They all run in a browser, no backend required. You can also run them locally very easily.
- The first edition of the #ReclaimConstitution quiz is open for registration. It’s open to students in grades 8-12. All registrants will receive four books about the Indian Constitution. That in itself is a good reason to register. Please share it amongst the kids you know. Disclosure: You may already be aware of this, but ReclaimConstitution is one of the grantees of NMG/2025.

Great resource on Trixie that you posted. Thanks for that!
My problems with Trixie currently are some Perl scripts stopped working (upgrade to Perl), and my SSH scripts stopped working (upgrade to OpenSSH). So there are definitely breaking changes, at least for me.
I am going to wait for a couple of weeks before I upgrade.
