Weekly Notes 33/2025

India celebrates Independence Day today. As much as we gained freedom from the British in 1947, we have yet to gain full freedom from other evils like religion, caste, class, and gender based biases. We are still a country with a large, uneducated, and hungry population. There is much to do before we can truly celebrate independence day. For me, August 15th is a reminder of this ongoing process.

  • Anju and I went out for lunch at De Fish Restaurant in Kammanahalli. Today is part of a long weekend, so the crowd was very manageable. I love their Fish Meal (Rs. 150), but this time I tried Seafood Meals (Rs. 380). It’s Yummy.
  • Two years of parenthood. Time flies. I am loving it.
  • Uma’s school period has been extended to 90 minutes now. We sit outside and wait in case we are required. This also gives me time to chat with other parents and get their views on the world and education. Most of them are younger and way smarter than I am. So good times.
  • I did a quick review of my DEXA scan report with my instructor/coach. We are planning to make changes to my workout plan from next month. I have already made some changes to my diet. I will do another scan in January. The goal is to improve, even if it’s a small amount.
  • The weekend was busy, as I worked and closed items that I couldn’t do during the week (WN 3/2025) because of travel.
  • I wrote a quick post about omnipresent stress and how I manage it.
  • InfyBlog friend Susam has a public RSS reader based on a blogroll on his blog. It displays the latest five blog posts from his favorite blogs, similar to my Weekly Notes Planet. I love these public feed reading experiments. After a long time, I see the blog world flourishing again. Added Rishikesh and Daniel Miessler to my Blogring.
  • Updated the Wiki Page to list all the pages on this blog that are not blog posts. It’s a long list, but a useful one. I am also cleaning up the pages that are not required or were just drafts. I’ve updated the bucketlist page to include emojis that mark goals as done 🟢, in progress 🟡, or I am no longer aspiring 🔴. I’m also adding new life goals.
  • I don’t know how to sew, but I’ve always wanted to learn. Most importantly, I enjoy seeing patterns and how they come together. There are many sources online, but I like freesewing.eu; both the content and software that runs this niche community are FOSS. I am also looking forward to Pebble Time 2. Currently, I am using Bangle.js 2, and it’s fine. I have also started using tally.so for surveys and forms. They are pretty and generally hacker-friendly with APIs and Webhooks, even in the free tier.
