Weekly Notes 46/2025
It’s been a good week. I have made good progress in general. I continued with my workouts as planned and played Pickleball on Wednesday. We played five games in 90 minutes. We’re all getting better and have started enjoying the game more now. Work has been hectic to say the least. I have been constantly talking to people. Although I enjoy talking to people, days filled with numerous meetings quickly tire me out. I need to organize the day into talking time and non-talking time. Wednesday, being a no-meeting day, is a blessing. I get a lot done on that day.

- 🍲 At home, we have been actively reducing carb items in food. Avoiding rice is impossible in South Indian households. However, we have reduced the amount. Anju has been making some amazing dinners that don’t include rice in any form.
- ✉ It seems like everyone outside India has received the cards. People in India are still receiving it; some received it this week after almost a month, while others have not. Anju is one of them. She is yet to get the card sent to our own address :)
- 📮I have created a project page for OpenPostBoxIndia to track the project. I also backup images from Are.na to my WordPress instance here. I already have about 50K media items, so adding another 5K images if the project becomes successful is not a big deal. Mapped two more postboxes which are in the area.
- 🏍 We have planned a three-day ride at the end of the month. It’s to Agumbe and Kavi Shaila. It’s about 800+ kms in total. I am quite kicked about it. I don’t get to ride as often or as long as I’d like, so I grab every chance I can and make the most of it. Hence, looking forward to it.
- ✍ I wrote a blog post about what I consider hard work.
- 🌏 BMTC, Bengaluru’s public bus transport provider, appears to struggle with renewing domain names and maintaining web applications. They keep changing every few years. My blog is full of dead URLs to BMTC. They have a new URL and application now, but I am linking it through my own short URL. If you love technology, then you should read Mike Masnick on TechDirt. Here is a post from earlier this year, Fascism For First Time Founders, which applies to Indian founders as well. It’s not the first time in history that the government has paid armed folks to kidnap ordinary folks. However, that it is happening in 2025 is not just shocking, but also proof that even with a well-documented history, we don’t learn anything. CCTV cameras that you think are installed for your safety can be and will be used against you one day, based on the people in power. Hence, Surveillance of Surveillance is essential. If you are in the Python world, you can now try free threads in the new 3.14t. Many things are going to become faster soon, hopefully in a transparent way to the average developer. Use uv to install and run 3.14t.
