So slowly, I am going out and meeting friends. Thanks to them for inviting me. Given how much time I used to spend meeting friends and acquaintances before COVID-19, the current amount surprises me. But I will try.

SDR on Android Phone

I have been thinking about running SDR on Android for some time. So I did this week. The setup is useful for “showing” radio waves to kids and adults. It also makes sense to see it when you want to debug wifi channel or other radio issues at home.

Weekly Notes 08/2023

I have been a professional engineer for 20 years now. I started in Jan/2003 as a Software Engineer for Infosys and Mysore. It was my first paid job. Ideally, I should have written about it in Weekly Notes 02/2023; I somehow missed it. Anyway, It’s been an exciting 20 years, and I hope I have another 20 years in me. I want to cover aspects of it separately throughout this year.

Twenty Years of Engineering Practice

This year marks my twentieth year of engineering practice. I got my first actual salary in Jan of 2003 from Infosys. So it has been 20 years. It will take several posts to explain this twenty years. For now, I will list some things about which I might write in detail later.

News this week was very disturbing and heart-wrenching. One is from IIT Bombay, where a Dalit student committed suicide, and another is about Bangalore’s Jain university students’ very casteist mad ads play. All in the same week. How is it our educational institutions are failing so badly?

Communicating with Minetest Server Using APIs

I have been playing Minetest for a while now, mostly in creative mode. Recently I wanted to control it programmatically. So I started looking for ways to do it. I found mineysocket mod, which gives remote access to Minetest server over a network/socket API. There are wrappers available for various languages, including Python.
