Weekly Notes 37/2025

What a hectic week it has been. It was filled with a lot of pending work from last week and new work from this week. I am doing okay work-wise and otherwise, too. All of us have recovered. The business of life should return to normalcy in a couple of weeks.

Uma loves puzzles
  • We changed my workout plan this week. We shuffled things up to keep it interesting and added new strength-building workouts.
  • I also played Pickle-ball for the first time this week. It was fun and quite intense. I loved it. I just need to avoid playing on workout days and spread things out over the week :)
  • The data from Bengaluru – Where do you work from? Is out. I will continue to release it every month until the end of the year. BTW, if you have not participated, please do.
  • Uma loves going to school. She wakes up asking to go. I am so happy for her. Now she spends almost half a day there.
  • I synced my Playlists to YouTube Music. Used JSPF Convert to convert to XSPF and then imported into YT Music. There were a couple of mismatches and some missed matches. Anyway, ListenBrainz will still be the source of truth. I am working on a script to sync the Playlist to my Navindrome instance based on musicBrainzId. I will release it soon. The challenge I am facing now is to update my music library with musicBrainzId. Although I use Picard, I have never tagged my music with musicbrainz_recordingid, which appears as musicBrainzId in Subsonic API response. I plan to do it slowly, at least for the songs that are used in my playlists. I could do matching just by name, but it won’t be as accurate. I have yet to play with the Smart Playlists feature in Navidrome; it looks interesting.
  • For some reason, my new Laptop’s Wi-Fi controller disappeared from the device list in Ubuntu. I am not sure if it’s a hardware or software issue. I couldn’t debug as the week was already hectic. But I had a USB Wi-Fi adapter (TP Link AX300), and it started working as soon as I plugged it in. It auto-connected. Worst case, I would have used a USB Ethernet Port adapter. Now I have to figure out what to do next. I hate sending my laptop to service, despite having a three-year full support contract.
  • I am re-reading The Buddha and His Dhamma by Ambedkar. I first read it in 2019, and I remember liking it. Strangely enough, I have not blogged about it. In 2025, I am a different person. Now I am much more impressed by Ambedkar’s take, logical explanation, and his PoV. This time, I will summarize and write my views on it. In the meantime, I updated my Indian Philosophies comparison page.
  • If you experiment with AI+ART, then this year’s The Wrong Biennale is for you. There are lots of curated exhibitors where you can apply; it’s a decentralized event. You can also be a curator. In another AI+Web news, there is a proposal for an open standard for licensing content to businesses (mostly to AI scrapers) called Really Simple Licensing (RSL). Currently, only big content aggregators/providers seem to be participating (e.g., Reddit, Medium), but they already have a way to cut deals with AI model creators. So, not sure how much of this will make a difference to them. Given the name “RSL” that rhymes with RSS, I think its creators want it to be friendly to every small publisher on the internet, like RSS. But I really doubt that will happen. Also, how will this help individual creators on these platforms like Reddit?
  • 🤬 or 🗣️Which one is a better emoji for a rant? I think the first one.
  • Life keeps giving you reminders that it is short.
