I bought this motorcycle (Yami/Red) in 2003. It was my first motorcycle. It was just under INR 50K. It was my first big buy and a loan. I purchased many things after this, but nothing came close. Nothing has given me the sense of freedom I could get from Yami.
I paid the advance for the restoration and rework of Red (Yamaha). The total repair expense will be more than how much I spent to buy it. I think it’s worth it. I love that motorcycle. It’s with Salman of Delhi Garage. He has promised to deliver it in 25 days. Let’s see.
It’s that time of the year (Weekly Notes 21/2023) again. I am in Chennai for Paradox. I like these yearly visits. The year 2023/24 has been exceptional. Some of the students who had completed the course have been placed.
It started with the plan to ride to Gokarna through Shivamogga. After our ride to Kanyakumari almost an year back we wanted to go for a long ride desperately. Heavy rains in Western Ghats of Karnataka forced us to change the destination. Anand suggested that we will ride to Valparai and it would be good. We agreed as soon as we knew it had 40 hair pin curves. This time we didn’t have time to do any planning.
I have been to Sravanabelagola multiple times. But this time it was with Yami. I left home around 6 and caught Anand at Madiwala. From there on we went to ISKON to join other riding friends. From ISKON to Nelamagala was uneventful. At Nelamangala we were supposed to take a left turn to...
