Entry into Parenthood

For me, having kids has been a dream for a long time. It was only in my late twenties and early thirties that I thought about adoption and chose it to be the primary option. I was super lucky to meet someone with similar thoughts and dreams. It just became super easy once we got married.

It took us about seven years to be sure and apply. We wanted to ensure we could do and give, everything the baby needs. One of them is; us being a mature set of parents. Then, the ability to provide a good set of relatives and friends of parents. I had seen too many disasters. Some parents had no idea as to what to expect. In other cases, the couple's relationship wasn't robust or strong enough to welcome additional dependents into their lives. We have been lucky; we have friends and family members who are generous and kind. We also had time to build and strengthen our marriage before we got new human into this fold.

We knew marriage was work as much as love before we got married. That assumption has served us, especially me, very well. So, when we wanted to be parents, we knew this would be lots of work. The expectation was clear. We also knew we would love it. That's when we submitted our adoption application. Just after submission, the world got hit by COVID-19. The lock-down, time and surroundings we lived in, what we saw strengthened our decision.

And then it took three years for the baby to arrive in our lives. What a perfect gift for the tenth wedding anniversary. It has been four months. It's been a decent amount of work and lots of joy. There's nothing quite like waking up to the joyful sound of a child in the morning.

I will probably blog about parenting, just like every other thing in my life. You may have seen some posts on Baby Tech. There is going to be a lot of parent blogging as well. On a side note, if you have questions about adoption in India. I am more than happy to answer them. Email me, and I will try my best to answer.
