Why restore my old Motorcycle?

I bought this motorcycle (Yami/Red) in 2004/5. It was my first motorcycle. It was just under INR 50K. It was my first big buy and reason for my first loan. I have purchased many things since then, but nothing has come close to this buy. Nothing has given me the sense of freedom I could get from Yami.

This small and humble 125cc Yamaha Fazer took me around India in 2010 when I turned 30. Before that, it took me on beautiful rides to Pondicherry, Kanyakumari, Valparai, etc. But post-2010, I almost stopped riding it. I am not sure why. It may be because of WagonR/Blue, but I don't know. I stopped riding motorcycles in 2010.

This year, 2024, I restarted motorcycling; it was joyful. It reminded me how much joy Yami had brought me, so this 20-year-old had to be restored. So, it was picked up from my father's garage and shipped to Delhi Garage for evaluation. It can be restored, is the first and last thing I heard from Salman, everything else is a haze. I was thrilled even though the restoration cost exceeded its original price.

It's in the garage; it will take a month to come out and go for a ride. Will I take this 125CC bike for long rides? I don't know. I always believed that it's the rider who usually fails, not the ride. So I might. If not for thousands of kilometers, at least hundreds of kilometers. I am eagerly waiting for it.

Also, I am still not convinced if I should buy a new, modern motorcycle, even though I loved CB350.
